OVERVIEW

DERATIONED is a long-term project — a persistent-world survival MMO that blends the depth of base-building with the constant tension of open-world PvP. Imagine the social systems of an MMO with the brutality and consequence of a survival sandbox.

It's being built on a custom C++ engine designed specifically for the demands of a persistent shared world. Every system — networking, world streaming, combat, crafting — is purpose-built for the genre rather than adapted from a general-purpose engine.

DESIGN GOALS

  • Persistent world — your base, your stash, your enemies are still there when you log in tomorrow
  • Faction-based PvP — large-scale conflict structured around player-driven factions and territory
  • Season-driven cycles — meaningful resets keep the world dynamic without erasing player history
  • Earned scarcity — resources feel limited; what you build matters
  • No pay-to-win — cosmetic monetization only, never gameplay advantages

CURRENT STATUS

DERATIONED is in early pre-production. The core engine work is underway, but a public reveal is far off. This page exists so the project is documented and you can follow along as it develops.

Realistic timeline: don't expect playable builds for a long time. The studio is small (one developer) and the scope is large. Updates will be posted as systems come online.

WHY THE LONG ROAD

Most indie MMO attempts fail because they ship before the core systems are right. DERATIONED is being built backwards: engine, networking, world simulation first; then content. When it ships, it will work — even if that takes years.
